The composition resembles a painted scroll, colour accents of teal, purple and rust enlivening a quiet neutral ground. Surface condition is low distress; the palette shows delicate fading that heightens the tactile wool fibre. The figures are rendered with economical, almost calligraphic lines and the overall effect is quietly narrative rather than ornate.
