This Mahal antique rug, measuring 254 x 366 cm, balances a pale, weathered field with soft cream, white, muted blue and traces of rust and brown. The composition is anchored by a faded central medallion, stepped geometric motifs and an ornate floral border, now softened by time and heavy wear. Its high distress creates an appealingly hushed surface, where pattern and pile merge into a calm, tonal whole. Circa 1920 - 1940.
