This Mahal antique rug measures 323 x 551 cm and shows a softly worn field of floral and geometric pattern, enclosed by a richly worked border of repeating blossom forms and small angular motifs. Wool gives the surface a tactile, grounded feel, while the palette of cream, brown, and muted colour accents is broken by traces of teal and terracotta. The central medallion reads through the patina with restraint, allowing the composition to feel layered and quietly formal. Circa 1920 - 1940, it has the weathered character and heritage presence associated with an aged Mahal.
