This Mahal antique rug, measuring 335 x 495 cm, balances a richly worked floral field with a border of repeating blossoms and fine guard lines. The palette moves through rust red, indigo, muted blue, sage green, ivory, and warm brown, softened by visible fading and medium wear that lend the surface a mellow, timeworn clarity. The central drawing remains intricate, though gently blurred in places by age. Circa 1900 - 1930, it presents the dense ornament and measured colour of a wool Mahal with an especially settled, heritage-rich presence. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
