This Bijar antique rug measures 198 x 297 cm and has a deeply worn, atmospheric surface. The design pairs a softly structured central field of elongated geometric motifs with narrow borders and a muted outer frame, allowing powder blue, taupe, and weathered ivory to settle over the darker brown pattern. High distress has softened the contrasts and given the piece a calm, timeworn finish. Circa 1885 - 1900, it carries the grounded character often associated with Bijar weaving, expressed here in a faded and tactile composition. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
