This Ghiordes antique rug measures 130 x 183 cm and carries a serene prayer-format layout shaped by age and use. The wool field is softly faded, with a hanging lamp motif suspended below the arched centre, and framed by nested floral borders in restrained red, ivory, taupe, and grey-blue tones. Medium distress gives the surface a mellow, lived-in texture, while the border detail remains legible and composed. Circa 1860 - 1875, it reflects the measured symmetry and decorative restraint that define the Ghiordes tradition. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
