This Ghiordes antique rug measures 152 x 290 cm and has the calm presence of age, with a tall prayer-niche composition set within multiple borders of geometric and floral ornament. The faded indigo centre is balanced by sage, ivory, soft blue-grey, and muted blush, giving the design a weathered but legible character. Rosette bands, octagonal motifs, and narrow guard borders create a measured frame around the field. Medium distress softens the drawing and lifts the surface into a more understated register. Circa 1850 - 1865, it offers a refined sense of structure, colour, and patina.
