This Mahal antique rug measures 335 x 472 cm and carries a gently faded field of repeating floral latticework in muted celadon, pale aqua, sand, and soft gold tones. The border is narrow and composed, with floral detailing that echoes the finer rhythms within the centre. The wool surface shows visible wear, softened contrast, and a rich aged patina, lending the whole piece a quiet, settled character. Circa 1885 - 1900, it reflects the more understated side of the Mahal tradition, where an allover drawing is rendered with uncommon ease and balance.
