This Ghiordes antique rug measures 107 x 155 cm and combines wool texture with a prayer-form layout in faded blue, cream, magenta, olive, and burgundy. The central field is organised around geometric and floral motifs, with stepped forms and a strong outer border that creates a layered, architectural reading. Visible wear has mellowed the palette and softened the edges of the pattern, lending the piece a quietly aged presence. Circa 1880 - 1895, it reflects the decorative restraint and surface complexity often associated with historic Ghiordes weaving. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
