This Mahal antique rug measures 284 x 381 cm and carries a grounded palette of olive green, muted red, teal, cream, gold, and brown. The open field is organised around a central medallion, then softened by scattered floral and boteh motifs that create a calm, evenly paced composition. Around it, the border is densely worked with floral and geometric ornament, adding structure and contrast. Circa 1880 - 1895, the wool surface shows low distress, with visible wear, gentle fading, and nuanced colour variation that speak to age without diminishing the clarity of the design.
