This Ghiordes antique rug measures 97 x 391 cm and presents a long, slender composition with a field softened by time. The palette moves through ivory, faded rose, deep red and muted pink, with a delicate border of floral and geometric detail drawing the eye to the edges. The central medallion is elongated and quietly formal, while the worn surface adds depth and a dry, timeworn character. Medium distress has gently blurred the pattern without diminishing its presence. Circa 1900 - 1930, it offers a graceful example of the refined visual language associated with Ghiordes weaving.
