A wool Heriz antique rug, 300 x 389 cm, composed around a strong central medallion in saturated red balanced by cream and neutral panels that reveal subtle abrash. Angular palmettes, stepped cartouches and a rich foliate border produce a graphic, tactile composition; the pile retains low wear and the edges remain sound with original fringe. Circa 1910 - 1925. The rug presents considered proportion and layered colour, bold geometry tempered by soft fading and a dry, tactile hand that speaks to heritage craft.
