An elongated Kurd runner in wool, its rich red field enlivened by cream and white palmettes and stylised floral vine motifs in measured repetition across 107 x 495 cm. Hooked palmettes and small rosettes march the length of the composition, while narrow cream guard borders frame the design. Low distress preserves a supple pile and gentle abrash, allowing colour and pattern to read with clarity and tactility. This antique rug balances craft and time, an object where ageing accentuates the design rather than obscures it. Circa 1900 - 1915. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
