A large Agra in wool, presented in muted red and russet brown tones with a soft, neutral ground showing extensive abrash and surface patina. The faint allover floral language and broad floral border remain legible beneath high wear, the borders reading as a slightly richer band of colour. Measures 345 x 427 cm; the proportion and distressed surface create a textural, timeworn character. This antique rug shows frayed edges, areas of pile loss and a lighter patched spot, all part of its lived-in expression. Circa 1880 - 1900. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
