An Agra woven in wool, this antique rug measures 122 x 201 cm and presents a worn red ground tempered by sage and ivory tones. The allover floral arabesque of palmettes and mirrored medallions is held within narrow guard borders, the design softened by uniform abrash. Surface wear is medium, with areas of low pile and gently softened edges that articulate the rug's history. The colour palette moves between deep crimson, sage green and warm cream; the hand remains supple despite age. Circa 1900 - 1920, the piece feels tactile and quietly considered.
