This Mahal holds a patient, all-over floral field in muted slate-blue, washed coral-red and cream. Woven in wool, the piece shows a softened pile, layered abrash and medium surface wear that allows palmettes and scrolling arabesques to appear like a faded fresco. Narrow floral guards frame the field while edges show gentle fraying and areas of loss consistent with age. The 310 x 518 cm antique rug balances faded colour harmonies with a palpable tactile presence, worn by time yet still resonant with design. Circa 1900 - 1920 The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
