A gently faded Hook in wool fibre shows a central floral medallion and relaxed scrolling garlands, framed by a darker floral border. The colourway reads neutral, cream, white and muted blue with soft rose and sage accents; abrash and even wear lend a painterly patina to the surface. This antique rug demonstrates the tactile language of hooked chainstitch work, where blossoms and foliage are modelled with a supple, worn hand. It measures 183 x 274 cm and displays modest edge losses that speak to everyday use and age. Circa 1885 - 1900.
