Hook is a hooked wool rug composed as a checkerboard of square panels, alternating concentric colour fields and loose floral sketches. Soft pinks, cream and white sit within narrow dark lines that structure the surface into a considered grid. The hooked surface reads as gently worn and domestic, with subtle abrash across the pink panels and a few period stains that register as patina. The wool fibre offers a matte, tactile quality and a soft hand. This antique rug measures 165 x 264 cm. Circa 1920 - 1940. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
