This Mahal is a quietly luminous wool antique rug, 224 x 310 cm. The ground reads a pale blue with soft green undertones, set against warm rust palmettes and muted gold highlights. An allover floral arabesque unfolds across the field, contained by a series of narrow borders with geometric motifs; the pattern is softened by even abrash and medium wear. The wool fibre retains a low sheen and a tactile nap; gentle surface losses expose layered colour and a mellow patina formed over time. Circa 1900 - 1915. The piece combines formal Mahal language with a calm, lived-in presence.
