An antique rug, this Heriz in wool displays a graphic geometric medallion worked in layers of blue, cream and neutral colour. The 259 x 353 cm proportion carries stepped motifs and angular palmettes, framed by a broad foliate border in darker blue with white accents. Low distress preserves pattern clarity and a tactile, low-sheen wool fibre; minor tonal abrash lends the field a lived, layered quality. The piece reads as a study in disciplined composition, where handwork and time have softened edges without diminishing the design’s strength. Circa 1900 - 1915.
