Calm and quietly patinated, this Agra is woven in wool and measures 295 x 549 cm. A broad, muted centre is framed by a generous boteh border and narrow guard bands; subtle floral spandrels add compositional punctuation. The palette of cream, white and warm brown has softened into even abrash, the pile showing medium wear and a soft hand. Read as an antique rug with a measured, old-world temperament, its faded motifs and gentle surface wear speak to sustained use and traditional dyeing. Circa 1880 - 1900. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
