This Mahal runner is handwoven in wool with a red field softened to rose and cream centres, framed by a muted teal and neutral guard border. The composition uses a linked lozenge motif and stylised palmettes, their edges mellowed by age and even abrash; repeat medallions read as a low-contrast graphic along the length. At 97 x 282 cm the piece shows medium distress with scattered threadbare areas and minor fringe wear, imparting a supple, timeworn surface. Circa 1900 - 1920. An antique rug whose faded colour and tactile wool fibre suggest quiet provenance and long use.
