An Agra wool antique rug in a restrained colourway, 135 x 259 cm. The design pairs repeating medallions and a geometric lattice with palmettes and floral arabesques, contained by several worked borders. Low distress and a soft hand allow the muted pinks, warm browns and ivory notes to sit with gentle abrash and a refined vintage patina. The overall expression points to an older weaving tradition with restrained wear and clear motif definition. Circa 1900 - 1920. The result is a quietly authoritative rug where texture, pattern and colour read together as considered craft.
