An elongated Hamadan runner in wool, this antique rug presents a composed repeat of floral guls across a blue field, tempered by cream and neutral tones. Measuring 104 x 500 cm, the runner features narrow guard borders of palmettes and a compact lattice of small medallions. The pile shows low distress with subtle abrash and softly worn edges that contribute to a calm, lived-in surface. The tactile wool fibre and disciplined motifing give a strong linear rhythm and quiet presence. Circa 1890 - 1930. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
