An Agra in wool, defined by a warm gold ground and a composed, measured pattern. At 343 x 457 cm the field arranges palmettes and scrolling arabesques in cream and white on a neutral-gold ground, the motifs set with generous negative space. Medium wear and a softened pile create a tactile, time-worn surface where subtle abrash and faded accents enliven the design. The wide outer border provides a softened frame to the centre, its cartouche-like motifs mellowed with age. This antique rug has a considered presence and quietly aged patina. Circa 1895 - 1910
