This Bijar carries a softened colour range of neutral, brown and cream in wool fibre. At 226 x 338 cm the field arranges repeating palmettes and an open trellis, their outlines mellowed through repeated use. Areas of abrash, selective pile loss and a sunwashed surface register medium distress while the borders retain warmer coral and ochre notes. The wool fibre displays a dry, worked surface that highlights the faded colour and tactile motifs. The weave reads as an antique rug with a timeworn presence, each worn motif revealing the character of long use. Circa 1915 - 1930
