This Ghiordes in wool is an antique rug that balances formal geometry with a soft, worn surface. At 163 x 284 cm the elongated central medallion and repeating lozenge motifs settle into a rubbed red ground, warmed by cream and neutral abrash and punctuated by white highlights in the borders. The layered fading and medium distress create a tactile, low-relief texture; borders retain their stepped rhythm though colours have softened. The overall effect is quietly architectural and heritage-aware. Circa 1885 - 1900, the piece reads as a lived object with discreet craft and presence.
