A faded Mahal in wool, rendered in muted red and neutral colour with a soft, worn surface. The 206 x 315 cm field reads like a whisper of floral allover, the borders now pale frames of their former pattern. High distress and visible abrash give the weave a tactile, low-pile texture and a layered patina that records long use. This antique rug carries a quiet, lived-in presence where colour and motif have softened into a cohesive wash of pink, beige and brown. Circa 1885 - 1900. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
