An antique Bijar in wool, offered at 300 x 411 cm, this rug presents a large lozenge medallion nested within a diamond field, the ground peppered with small repeat motifs and framed by slender floral borders. The colourway has aged to soft browns, cream and white, the surface bearing even fading and abrash that read as a muted, patinated veil. High distress has softened the pile and reduced border contrast, revealing an intimate, tactile weave of time. Circa 1910 - 1930. The piece feels composed and worn-in, quietly articulate of craft and history. This antique rug retains a considered, tactile character.
