A broad Mahal with a worn red ground softened by cool neutrals and cream highlights, woven in wool and tempered to a muted colour range. The design centres on large palmettes and floral medallions that flow into scrolling arabesques, framed by a powder-blue guard border. Medium surface wear and visible abrash have reduced contrast and exposed paler tones; the pile reads soft in places while the border remains relatively distinct. The sense is of a well-used textile where pattern and craft remain plainly legible. This antique rug measures 312 x 396 cm. Circa 1900 - 1920
