This Agra wool rug shows a faded field of repeating floral arabesques and lozenge medallions in cream, white and soft brown tones. The layered foliate borders are finely drawn and softened by medium wear and subtle abrash across the ground. The wool fibre has a subdued hand, the pile thinned in places to reveal a mellow, antique surface that emphasises the design's quiet geometry. Circa 1925 - 1940. Measures 366 x 447 cm. As an antique rug it reads as a study in aged colour and texture, restrained and tactile.
