A large Mahal in wool, composed with an allover arrangement of palmettes and floral medallions linked by scrolling vines and framed by multiple guard borders. The worn surface shows gentle, even fading and minor abrash that subdue the original notes of neutral ground with green and blue highlights. Pile and edges are in sound condition for age, presenting low visible wear and a soft, tactile handle. The piece reads as a historic, handworked field with generous scale and refined detail. This antique rug measures 305 x 518 cm and carries a quiet, lived-in warmth. Circa 1885 - 1900.
