This Mahal is handwoven in wool on a warm red field where ample palmettes and stylised floral sprays form a calm, balanced composition. Neutral and brown accents delineate secondary motifs and the layered border courses, adding depth without excess. The pile keeps a soft, tactile surface with low wear, modest abrash and a subdued patina that highlights age and use. The motifs are generous in scale yet thoughtfully contained; borders remain defined and harmonious with the centre. The piece reads as an antique rug of composed proportion and quiet presence. Circa 1900 - 1915. Exact size: 244 x 356 cm.
