This Mahal presents an ivory field of repeating floral lattice and restrained brown and cream motifs, held by a dark floral border. The wool fibre shows even softening from use and a medium level of wear that warms the palette and reveals gentle abrash across the ground. The design reads as an antiqued, well-used piece with clear rosettes and flowing vinework set within narrow guard stripes and a prominent main border. Measurements: 244 x 381 cm. Circa 1900 - 1920. This antique rug retains a considered, tactile character. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
