A large Heriz woven in wool, this antique rug presents a warm red field tempered by navy borders and green highlights. The surface has medium wear and a soft abrash that gives the pattern a lived, layered quality; borders show gentle abrasion and the edges a modest fray. The overall composition is geometric and open, with angular floral vines and medallion echoes throughout. Circa 1900 - 1915. At 462 x 650 cm the piece reads as both assertive and quietly worn, a study in woollen texture, resilient colour and the tactile traces of age.
