A refined Yazd in wool, 320 x 422 cm, this antique rug carries a muted, time-softened palette of neutral, red and brown. The field is populated by repeating palmettes and flowing vine ornament, resolved into a wide floral border with fine inner guards. Medium wear has produced irregular abrash and a low lustre across the surface, softening the original contrasts and emphasising texture. The show of age reads as tactile history, where coloured areas have mellowed and edges are softened from use. Circa 1885 - 1925, the rug feels quietly composed and materially honest.
