A substantial Bijar in wool, its allover field composed of repeated floral medallions and Herati-like motifs framed by a multi-band palmette border. The restrained palette of neutral, brown, cream and white has mellowed with age, producing gentle abrash and a layered surface texture. Medium distress and soft pile variation create a lived-in patina and lend the piece a considered, tactile presence. This antique rug, 353 x 531 cm, reads as an object of craft and history, quietly refined by time. Circa 1900 - 1915. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
