This Mahal measures 330 x 607 cm and shows a dense floral allover in neutral, brown and gold wool. Circa 1900 - 1920. The central field is composed of repeating palmettes and rosettes, softened by even abrash and areas of polished wear. Multiple floral borders frame the field, their ornament reduced to quiet motifs through time. Surface abrasion and medium distress create a dry, tactile surface and muted colour harmonies. The result is an antique rug with a restrained, heritage-aware character, its worn surface and layered tones revealing both craft and age.
