An Agra rug wrought in wool, its ivory-to-cream field bearing a central laurel wreath and four companion wreaths at the corners. The broad border of scrolling palmettes and floral roundels sits in faded rose and muted mauve, the colours softened by even abrash and visible wear. At 427 x 691 cm the composition reads large and architectural, the pile low with areas of softened sheen and discreet repairs. This antique rug preserves an understated, linen-like colourway that reads as time-worn and tactile, an object of quiet craft and measured age. Circa 1900 - 1925.
