This Mahal presents a muted green field punctuated by rust and cream palmettes, the composition relaxed by even abrash and softened pile. A broad foliate border frames the centre, its warm red tones mellowed by age and wear. The wool surface has a tactile, low-sheen patina, evidence of medium distress that reads as quiet history. As an antique rug it has a calm, collected presence and measures 259 x 363 cm. Circa 1880 - 1900. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
