This Mahal carries a refined neutral colourway in wool with a softly faded central medallion and floral arabesques framed by multiple borders. The surface exhibits medium distress, visible abrash and softened pile that articulate the rug's age; edges show expected wear and a few threadbare areas. The composition remains clear and atmospheric, an antique rug with muted blue highlights and a timeworn hand. Circa 1885 - 1900, the 320 x 526 cm scale allows the design to read as a considered centrepiece with the layered patina of prolonged use. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
