This Mahal rug presents an ivory field centred by a deep navy medallion, surrounded by palmettes, scrolling vines and small boteh motifs in rust, soft blues and green. Knotted in wool, the piece carries low wear with a subtle abrash that enriches the colour across the field. Warm red guard borders and a restrained geometric repeat give the rug a disciplined frame while the surface retains a tactile, brushed hand. An antique rug of quiet presence and sympathetic patina. Circa 1910 - 1925. Measurements: 269 x 391 cm. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
